Quartzite is harder than granite so it is quite durable. Quartz is hard too but not quite as hard as quartzite. Quartzite forms as a result of sandstone that has high quartz content being exposed to high amounts of heat and pressure. It too is resistant to heat scratching and chemical reactions.
